Mistakenly Used Chloride In An Iron Filter Instead Of Permanganate. Is Resin Bed Ruined?

I moved into a house with an existing iron filter. Last owner thought it was a softener and used potassium chloride instead of potassium permanganate. The reservoir is a solid clump of Chloride, but my concern is for the resin bed. It does not seem to filter out the iron. Any way I can rectify?
